EMI European Media Investment AG, in which ARBOmedia AG has a 85,8% share, and Media Sud Europa conclude a strategic partnership in the media sector
19th of May 2008. In April of this year, EMI European Media Investment AG (EMI AG) and Media Sud Europa started a strategic partnership in order to boost their leading position in the market. EMI AG is a media company focused on premium media participations and strategic partnerships in Rumania´s growing market. Its focal point is in the participation of publishing companies and printing works in the Rumanian market which at present publish eight local daily newspapers. Three newspapers appear at Media Sud Europa which are now connected to the network of the German company. Simultaneously, EMI AG are pursuing the construction of a printing network that will cover at least 5 newspaper and two magazine printing works.
EMI AG would like to achieve successful realization of the consolidation by additional redefinition of the publishing project and by reorganizing the management system of the newspaper chain. Focusing on the development of TV, radio and online contents, as well as the continuation of the investment policy, should also contribute to success.
Consolidation will be finalized at the end of 2008.
By this partnership, EMI AG as well as Media Sud Europa will belong to the leading publishers in the Rumanian printing media market. This will be evident by the turnover as well as by the product portfolio and the increase in circulation.
Bobby Păunescu, main shareholder of Media Sud Europa and Silviu Ispas, member of the board at EMI AG will be in charge of all business activities in Rumania.
Bobby Păunescu stated: "ARBOmedia AG has, on Central and Eastern European markets, proved that they seize chances and simultaneously keep local values and identity. The partnership between ARBOmedia AG and Media Sud Europa will reinforce the position as the second largest publisher in Rumania. The experience of Media Sud Europa, publisher of the best selling regional newspaper in Rumania, and the experience of EMI AG, who publish the most important publications in eight cities throughout Rumania, is a guarantee for project quality which we will develop together".
Silviu Ispas underlined the meaning of the partnership by saying: "Craiova, the regional newspaper with the largest circulation in Rumania, is currently, together with our centres already existing in Laşi, Galaţi und Cluj, one of the most important regional centres of the network. From now we speak of a country network with concrete potential in all geographical sectors and printing services which guarantee us positive development. The new network will begin with the development of new, common products such as printed matter as well as television matter and online contents. The EMI Group will remain true to its strategy to develop the project from Rumania together with local partners. The Media Sud Europa Group is an important strategic partner at whose side the perspectives for development extend beyond EMI´s initial conceptions".
